One Fine Day

Life and Style in Southern CA

"Dreaming About You" Top also HERE / Levi's Jeans / Espadrille Wedges (from last year), similar here and here / Tory Burch 'Alexa' Shoulder Bag
The first day of spring technically isn't until March 20th, but new arrivals are in stores and I am here for it! Fall is my first favorite season for fashion, but spring is a close second. The pastels, the vibrant pink and yellow tones - all of the colorful hues really brighten my mood, and I'm so excited to start dressing for warmer weather. I got this top while in Nordstrom the other day, and I just know I'm going to get so much use out of it once it warms up. Can't you just see it with a cute pair of shorts and sandals?! Plus, it just went on sale today!

I love Free People tops like this one. It has the most darling embroidery, and the flowy fit of it makes it perfect for a sunny day. I love white for spring, and the red makes it pop. It comes in a couple of others colors too - I looove the red one! I was all too happy to pair it with these wedges from last summer, which are sold out, but the similar ones I linked look just like them. Also, my rattan bag was SO popular last summer. It's on sale for about $30 and is a really good comparison to this one!

Huntington Beach was so fun!! I hadn't been there in probably 4 years. It was the prettiest day, not too cold, and hardly anyone was there. We stopped for burgers at this shack called TK Burgers - total hole-in-the-wall, but really good. We wandered around the pier and got ice cream, and now I'm missing the warmer temps. It POURED here all morning, even with thunder and lightning, and it's supposed to be cold and rainy for the next several days. I love the rain but not that much! Hahah PS - I just started a new book, can't wait to share! xoxo

Madewell Eyelet Peasant Top, also here / Madewell jeans (sold out), similar here / Marc Fisher 'Adalyn' Espadrille Wedges / Straw Rattan Bag (this one is great too)
I just loooove a good eyelet top. Funny story about this one - I saw it in Nordstrom, and they only had size L left. I was super bummed but went down to the Madewell store to see if they had it. I described it to one of the employees, and she said, "Oh I know which one you're talking about - we only have one left!" Well it turned out to be my size AND it was on sale....I should've bought a lotto ticket that day ðŸ¤£ Anyway, I adore the fit of this one. And did you notice the little ruffle detail on the shoulder? I might just wear this with shorts since it's been nearly 80 degrees around here! It's great for warmer weather....air flows right through all the eyelet holes and cools you off. PS - it's on sale and most sizes are still available!

Just a couple of other notes about this look - these are my FAVORITE jeans, but sadly they're a year (maybe even two years) old. They're by Madewell, and they're the most flattering, comfortable pair ever. I linked a pair that looks similar to them and are only $75. For the straw purse, the one I have here is under $30 right now on Amazon. I linked a more expensive, better quality one, too. Lastly, I can't find my shoes in the exact color I'm wearing, but I did link the exact same style by Marc Fisher.

What do you have planned for this week? I'm going to Huntington Beach with my fam today - stay tuned for more on how the day goes! xoxo

Thermal Top / Levi's Jeans / Heeled Ankle Booties / Similar Kate Spade Bag
Hey there! In case you couldn't tell by the title of this post, you really do need at least one of these thermals in your life. My favorite thing about it is it's so comfortable yet effortlessly stylish, making it super easy to dress up or down. Plus, Free People is one of my favorite brands. It comes in several colors - my mom got it in "Sky", which is a gorgeous baby blue that I'm totally going to borrow ðŸ˜‰ So pretty for transitioning from winter to spring! Just a note...it does run very large. It was way too long on me when I first bought it (I'm 5"4.5), but it fit just right after I washed and dried it.

Okay I don't know what is going on with me this year, but I am DYING for it to be spring already. I typically love the cold, but for some reason I'm so ready for spring colors, dresses, and alllll the pom-pom details. This past weekend it was 75 degrees after 4 days of heavy rainfall, and it felt so good to have the sun back. I just know that once it's hot again, I'm gonna be wishing it was cold though ðŸ¤£ ha! Anyway, talk to you guys soon! xoxo

Free People "Saturday Morning Cardigan" / Similar Pocket Tee / Jeans
Good evening! This post has been in my drafts since September haha. I mentioned a long while back on my Instagram that I had started reading a few books over the summer and would do a book review. Well I've read 5 and summarized them here - it's about time!

1. The Breakdown by B.A. Paris

I'm listing this one as #1 because it was SO good! This author is fabulous - I can't wait to read her other novels. This thriller follows a woman, Cass, through her mental breakdown as she struggles to piece together answers following a night she drove past a woman in the woods on a dark, rainy drive home....a woman who was found dead later that same night. Cass fears she may be developing early-onset dementia and is unsure about everything, including her involvement with the victim's murder. This story kept me turning pages until the very end where the truth is revealed. In hindsight, I feel a little silly that I didn't put it together earlier. My mom read it after me and guessed the end fairly early on in the book, so maybe I am just a little gullible! ;)

2. The Lying Game by Ruth Ware

This book isn't listed #2 because it's my second favorite - it's actually my least favorite. In fact, I didn't even finish it because I just couldn't get into the story. I don't exactly remember what it's about, except that 4 high school friends reconnect in their 30s for a trip and wind up discovering something gruesome and mysterious. I've heard lots of good things about this author, so I'd like to try another one of her books instead.

3. The Safest Lies by Megan Miranda

Image result for the safest lies by megan miranda
On a brighter note, this one pleasantly surprised me. It's a young adult novel, but it didn't seem like it at all. It totally held my interest, and I liked the story and the characters. Kelsey and her mother live in a remote location, far from any potential harm - or so they thought. Kelsey has been raised to always anticipate danger, as her mother escaped kidnappers as a teen and hasn't left the house in nearly two decades. Although Kelsey lives under the radar, everything changes when she drives off a cliff, is rescued by her heartthrob classmate Ryan Baker, and winds up all over the news. A few days later, Kelsey returns home to find her mother missing - something highly unusual. Someone is after Kelsey too, and the suspense of it all is quite captivating! It has innocent romance as well, which makes the book all the more worth the read.

4. The Marriage Lie by Kimberly Belle

If you're looking for a more mature mystery novel, I would say this is it. Iris and Will are very happily married in Atlanta and are ready for their first child. Iris works at a school, and Will is a high-tech genius - both of which who live pretty low-key lives. Iris's world is turned upside down when she learns of a plane crash that killed all on board, including Will, who was en route for a business trip. The strange thing is, Will was supposed to be on a different plane to Orlando, not to Seattle. Which plane was her husband on? Was he dead or alive? As she searches for answers, she finds that Will may be an entirely different person after all. While this was a good read, for some reason it just wasn't my favorite book. PS - it has a couple of mature scenes if that's something you'd like to be warned about.

5. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

You HAVE to read this book!! I will say that it took me quite a while to get into it. I think I read about 75 pages before I started feeling like I couldn't put it down. It's very wordy and highly descriptive - I would often drift off and get to the end of the page without having any idea what I had just read. However, once the story really started to unfold, I got hooked on it real quick! The book is set amidst the Civil War, and Mitchell incorporates a captivating love triangle throughout the rich history of early America. Scarlett O'Hara is a spoiled, narcissistic southern belle who always gets what and who she wants, until it comes to Ashely Wilkes. Ashley is marrying Melanie, despite Scarlett being certain he's actually in love with her instead. Rhett Butler comes into the picture and is enamored by Scarlett's outspoken nature, since all other ladies follow protocol and never speak their minds. It's unfair to say that the book is about this love triangle, because there is so much more to the story. However, Scarlett's calculating, selfish mind and back-and-forth relationship with Rhett really keeps the book moving along, and I ended up absolutely loving it.

I'm dying to get my hands on some new novels. One of my favorite things to do is read book reviews and then check out book after book. I get through books in a couple of weeks, and once I finish one I can't wait to get the next one! I've been meaning to read some new mystery novels, but I just haven't had the time. I'm going to make a point of picking out some new reads this week :) Happy Monday!

Happy Friday Eve! I am getting sooo excited for Valentine's Day. I love to celebrate with sweets, decorations, and festive clothing....I've always seen it as much more than just a romantic day for couples. I know what you're thinking...."that's what single people say" hahah but it's true! Each year I look forward to all the pink and red hues, from pillows, to coffee mugs, to sweaters whether or not I have a date. Here are some of my faves this year:

Kate Spade Phone Case / Satin Heart PJ Set / Heart Sweater / Faux Fur Heart Pillow / Heart Shaped Sunglasses / Heart Earrings / Crossbody Purse

Any of these would make great gifts, especially if you're headed to a Galentine's party with your gals. They are all pretty budget-friendly. Last year, I had a "Pal-entines" party with my pals...aka my pugs. Speaking of dogs, this Graphic Valentine's T-Shirt says "My Dog is my Valentine" - need!

Talk to you soon xoxo

Plaid Shirt Dress / Scrunch Boots / Leather Crossbody Bag / Cable Boot Socks
I posted these photos on my Instagram a couple of weeks ago, but I realized I totally forgot to put the details into a post on here. Posting it up today because it's on sale for just $20 ☺️ I wore it with tall boot socks and riding boots, but I think it would also be super cute with ankle booties or even sneakers. The red plaid was so festive for Christmas, but I think plaids and flannels definitely still work for the rest of winter!

On a totally unrelated note, I switched my bedroom around a few days ago and I don't know how I feel about it. I can't really tell if it's cause I'm not used to it or if it's because I actually don't like it haha. I'm dying to change up my room, even though I just redid most of it last year. For some reason, once Christmas is over I feel like it's time to move right into spring even though winter JUST started - because of that I've been wanting a light pink duvet or comforter! This one and this one are the two I've had my eye on.

That's all for now! xoxo ðŸ˜˜

I've gotten a bunch of new things recently, so I figured it would be best to just share them all in one post. Here they are!

The first things are my new Ugg Cable Knit Socks (pictured above). I've wanted these all fall & winter, so when Nordstrom put them on sale I finally ordered them. They're sold out there, but I found them in stock on Amazon. I actually bought the ones without pom-poms as well, which you can find here. I like both, but I think I prefer the sparkle pom-pom ones!

The next thing is this laptop case that I got for Christmas. I adore the look of the faux marble with the pink veins. It also has a light pink silicon keyboard, which is soft to the touch and protects the keys. The top & bottom are hard-shell plastic that clip on to your laptop. For under $25, I highly recommend this!

Another gift I received is the absolute softest, coziest plush bathrobe ever. Everyone who's seen me wear it wants one too - it's sooo fluffy and the pink color is to die for. It also comes in 5 other colors (I also love the baby blue & the white!) if pink isn't your thing. I wear it allllll the time ☺️

Speaking of soft and cozy, you MUST get yourself at least one pair of these butter socks. They're named appropriately - they are the best fuzzy socks I've ever gotten. My mom got me 3 pairs for my birthday, and I put them on as soon as I get home. They're only $6 right now too!

The last things are some freebies I got from Sephora and Ulta for my birthday. From Ulta, I got a travel size Lancôme Monsieur Big mascara and two Ulta eye shadows. I'm most happy about the mascara, because I use the regular size of that pretty much every day.

At Sephora, I had the choice between a Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and setting powder or a Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser and a polypeptide moisturizer. I went with the Drunk Elephant products because I've been hearing a lot about that brand and wanted to give it a try myself. So far, I'm not super impressed by the face cream - I have really dry skin, and the moisturizer has just done an okay job of helping with that. I do like the face wash, though! I also have sensitive skin, and it's been gentle enough to not break me out but still cleans my face really well.

Lastly, I got this Mac Patenpolish Lip Pencil in the shade "Make Me Proud" (pictured in the first photo). My sister got me a matte lipstick for Christmas in "Honey Love", but I wanted a more moisturizing formula as well as a more pink-nude color. This lip pencil is SO smooth on my lips - it doesn't dry them out at all!

J. Crew Vail Parka / Oversized Cable Turtleneck / Faux Leather Leggings / Laptop Bag
I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it!! With my new parka that is ðŸ˜‰ I got this coat from J. Crew Factory and I l-o-v-e it! It's the warmest, nicest-looking coat I've ever owned. You may recall me mentioning both my winter jackets were stolen out of the car last year. Well, this one is the perfect replacement. It's so, so warm, and the length is perfect. A lot of times J. Crew clothing is too big on me, but I got this coat in a 00 and it fits me just right.

I also got this oversized turtleneck sweater for Christmas. It's really soft and pairs so well with leggings or jeans - I've worn it with both. When I was editing these pictures, I realized that it's probably time for a new pair of leather boots....the toes on mine are all worn away hahah. Also, I was carrying my Kate Spade Saffiano Bag around after working on my laptop. It's one of my best purchases to date - if you need a good laptop bag that doubles as a purse, this is the one you need!

How was your weekend? I spent the majority of Saturday having a cozy day in since a storm was brewing & hit in the afternoon...there's no place I'd rather be than at home on a rainy day. I got a popcorn maker & gave it a try - going to share it with you guys in a "Friday Faves" post coming up! xoxoxo
