One Fine Day

Life and Style in Southern CA

1. Poncho Scarf 2. Felt Hat 3. Faux Suede Skirt 4. Waffle Lace-Up Top 5. Lace Trim Plaid Cami 6. Sherpa Pullover 7. Boucle Sweater 8.  Slim Ribbed Henley
Hey there :) today's post is all about my favorites from A&F. They have sooo many good things right now - I've been checking their website daily for deals because there's been a new one every day! I also picked up a couple of things over the weekend during the "25% off your entire purchase" sale. I got the poncho scarf, the henley, and the hat, and I actually put them all together into an outfit and love how it turned out. I'll definitely make an outfit post out of that one - can't wait to show you.

Some of the items I listed are currently on sale, but if there's a piece you want that's full-price it's sure to get marked down in the near future. I have the sherpa pullover from last year and I can't wait to wear it again...it's soooo warm and cozy. I love all the fall clothing that's coming out...it makes me so excited for sweater weather!

My mom, sister, and I took yesterday off and went to the mall. I had every intention of coming out with some things for the upcoming cooler temps, but I wound up leaving empty handed. Have you noticed that retailers put all their good stuff exclusively online? Almost every store I went into only had a select amount of merchandise, and everything I had seen on the website wasn't sold in store. I did get a couple of new things from Sephora and Ulta that I am super excited about - let me know if you want me to share!

Happy hump day xoxo

St. Augustine is such a hidden gem - you would never know just how charming it is unless you visit. I actually had never heard of it before....I follow Alyson Hayley's blog, and since she talked about it glowingly I thought it'd be worth a trip. While we were headed back to FL from GA, I was looking for things to do and remembered reading about this city. I can't tell you how glad I am that we stopped here!! It was a major highlight of the trip.

This town is the oldest one in the U.S., and its old-fashioned character really won me over. As soon as I spotted it off the highway, I knew I was going to love it - it's just such a pretty place. It's quite small, yet vibrant, and St. George Street is where it's at. That's where you'll find lots of places to eat and shops to visit, plus just walking along the cobblestones and admiring the Spanish-style architecture is a pleasure in itself.

Sadly, we only had two hours there. Between the time it took to get back from Savannah to making it to Orlando, we tried to cram in as much activity as we could. All we really did was get lunch at the BEST pizza place I've ever been to (not exaggerating!) and then pass through some stores, but that's all it took for me to love it. I hope I can go back one day and stay a night or two!

After we left the village area we went to St. Augustine beach, and let me tell you - it did NOT disappoint. It was the best beach we went to, I think ever. I love Malibu and all, but this beach doesn't compare. First of all, it's so clean and the sand is so soft. Second, the water was SO nice and warm! I wanna cry thinking about it! It's just funny because I never go in the ocean at home, except maybe dipping my feet in, because the water is freezing cold. I always thought I didn't like swimming in the sea, but I found myself dying to jump into the water in FL because it's like bathwater. If you're not really a beach person, try this beach - you just might change your mind!

Well, that does it for the last post about the final leg of our trip. I may write up a short post on the last hotel we stayed at in Orlando the night before we left because it was pretty cool, but I haven't decided yet. I feel so sad, but in a warm, happy way somehow, thinking about this trip. It was so special and I really had the greatest time. I love Florida so much....I always tell people that if I ever had to leave CA, that's where I would go.

Anyway, thank you for following along on my travels! I still owe you a post on all the delicious restaurants we visited throughout our trip - keep your eyes peeled :) xoxo

1. Wool Hat / 2. Camo Utility Pants / 3. Oversized Cardigan / 4. Tie-Front Button-Up Top /
5. Leopard Flats / 6. Knee-High Boots / 7. Drawstring Leather Bag / 8. Heavyweight Scarf

It's been soooo long since I posted a Wishlist Wednesday entry! This is basically a mini compilation of things on my wishlist, but I turned it more into a look at some pieces I'm really into. Ugh - I want to buy each and every one of these items. And I love the color scheme going on with them, too! The oversized cardigan is a piece I've been eyeing since last year - it's expensive so I've yet to make that purchase. Heads up though...it's 30% off right now making it around $100. Now might be the time to buy it since it's constantly sold out at the full price. The knot-front top is also on sale and comes in lots of colors, and I love the knee-high boots in black as well.

Anyway, I feel like I haven't talked to you guys in a while! Ever since I got home from the trip, I seem to just be busy all the time. I started a new job recently, and it seems to take up so much of my day despite being part-time. I found a few minutes yesterday morning to put all the fall decorations out, and just doing that made me feel more on track! I'm DYING to buy new clothes - my gosh when is the last time I posted about an outfit?? Hahah I have tons of fall pieces in my cart that I just haven't bought yet. Once I get some orders in, expect to see me back on here! Talk to you soon xoxo

Finally sharing all about my time in Savannah, GA! We were kind of skeptical about visiting because we had heard so many different things....mostly that it's a different world, there would be a lot of culture shock (especially coming from CA), among other things. A lot of people also said they loved it there, so I really wasn't sure what to think. I was expecting to love it as much as I loved Charleston.

We originally planned to be there Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and we actually left a day early because we weren't liking Savannah all that much hah. Spending our last two days of vacation in Florida sounded way better, so we re-routed at the last minute and went back to Orlando Friday morning. More on that in a bit!

We arrived in Savannah Wednesday evening and were surprised to find almost the whole town closed up for the night. By the time we checked in, changed, and went for dinner around 7, there were hardly any places open besides bars! For some reason I thought there was more of a nightlife there, but it was quite the opposite.

Thursday was spent exploring the squares. Savannah is very historic, much like Charleston. It's situated around 24 squares, which are all connected and easy to walk through. Each one has a historical figure in the center, and they are much like small parks with lots of trees and foliage. We couldn't see all of them because that would've taken hourssss haha. But I did really like the ones we went through!

This is where Forrest Gump's bench was - right in front of the statue! (It's in a museum now)

I love the homes and shops there - they kind of remind me of Charleston, but they have their own charm to them. It's really nice to wander around the town and pass by all the local businesses. One of the stores we went into was Paula Deen's; she lives there in Savannah. Her shop is adorable! Everything says "y'all" on it haha. She was actually there for a book signing Friday morning, but we were leaving by then and didn't get to meet her.

I didn't know that Savannah has a really beautiful cathedral in the heart of the city, so it was a pleasant surprise when we came around the corner and saw it. It's truly magnificent in person - all of the stations of the cross were hand-carved.

We also went on the river walk and saw one of the oldest streets in the country. The stones are all original, and it's really fascinating!!  There's a big steamboat you can board to take a tour on the river, and there are also lots of shops and restaurants to peruse. We LOVED the taffy shop - my gosh the best taffy I've had in my life. Soooo fresh and tasty!!

Honestly, there isn't much to do in Savannah. We went to the famous Forsythe Park (pictured above) and saw all the incredible trees, but after that there wasn't really anything else to see. Our experience at Forsythe wasn't the greatest....we parked on the scary side by accident (the park has a nice side and a ghetto side), got out of the car, and found ourselves in the midst of two men in a rather gruesome fight. Once we got away from that situation, we were able to enjoy it a little more. Aside from that, the squares are basically the highlight of the city. We also made the mistake of taking a drive and quickly found ourselves in the projects - definitely not where you want to end up haha. It gets pretty scary just outside of the historic district, so beware if you ever go.

The last thing we did in Georgia on Thursday evening was go to Tybee Island, which is a cute little beach town. There really isn't much going on there, so it's very quiet. I'm glad I got to see it!

We were able to see all the sights of Savannah in one day, and we pretty much had nothing left to do there by the time Friday came around. That's why we ultimately chose to head back to Florida, because we LOVE Florida and were missing it big time!

Up next I'm talking about the last leg of our trip in Saint Augustine and Orlando, and then I'll write up a big 'ol post on everywhere and everything we ate throughout our trip. Talk to you soon! xoxo

It's no secret that fall is my favorite time of year - I wouldn't mind if it was fall for 6 months! Heheh well now that it's September, it's hard to restrain myself from going full-on fall until summer is officially over on the 22nd. Ahhh I'm getting so excited just thinking about it! Here are some things I'm really looking forward to this season:

1. Fall Decorations

Images from Pinterest

I absolutely love coming home to a house fully decorated for fall. I hang THESE pumpkin lantern lights in my room (love THESE too), a pretty wreath on the front door, an autumn garland on the mantle....I really could go on and on. Especially when it starts to get cold and I'm out all day, I get so happy thinking about heading back to a cozy house with a cup of PSL and a movie!

2. The Apple Farm

Fresh apple cider from the orchard & pure maple syrup from Vermont (from the country store)

I can't wait to go apple picking!!! Okay, so a couple of years ago I went to an apple farm with our close family friends, and it is one of my most cherished memories to this day. Everything about that day was perfect - 7 of us crammed into the big Ford Explorer we had at the time, put on alllll the seat warmers, and listened to scary Halloween stories on Spotify the whole way (about a 1.5 hour drive). When we got there, it was cold and rainy and we warmed up with the homemade apple cider they have there. We also picked some apples, despite the rain, and meandered through the country store. Now every fall, I count down the days until I can go back!

3. The Pumpkin Patch

Annual pumpkin picking picture for Instagram, anyone?? Hahah I've been going to pumpkin patches every fall since I was a baby. It just doesn't feel like autumn without going once, and I usually go several times between September and November. One thing I love about the ones I go to is they are on farms, so I really enjoy getting fresh produce there rather than from the store - it's kinda fun to change it up.

4. Fall Eats and Recipes...and Thanksgiving!

Disneyland has some of the best treats during Halloweentime

Where do I even begin?! I cook and bake so much in fall and I loooove it. Isn't it great when you walk into a grocery store and they've got a whole display for various pumpkin foods? I live for that stuff. Last year I went shopping at Sprouts, and they had a giant presentation of fall foods. We ended up hosting a fall party because of all the goodies we found, and I fully intend on doing that again this year. Beyond excited for that! CLICK HERE to find directions on the Crockpot Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte I made last year - ugh it's so good. And let's not forget about Thanksgiving, my second favorite holiday! The picture below is part of the feast my sister and I cooked up last year.

5. Fall Fashion

I may have listed this last, but it's certainly not least. Fall fashion is my fa-vo-rite - I like it better than any other season. Boots, jackets, sweaters, scarves, ponchos, hats....and you can mix and match so many things to make a ton of great outfits. I wasn't blogging during fall of last year, so I don't have any photos of my own outfits. The photo above is my "Fall Outfits" board on Pinterest! If you want to follow me, my username is @heysweetkay :)

I might just have to decorate the house this week - don't know if I can resist! I ordered my first Pumpkin Spice Latte and pumpkin scone of the season the other day....even if my drink was iced (it's still 90 degrees!) it was so great!

Anyway, I'm still working on my posts from the trip, too, so I'll be back with more on that. I'm also thinking about writing up a post on what the past 6 months of blogging have been like...what are your thoughts? xoxo
