One Fine Day

Life and Style in Southern CA

This past Saturday I was officially inducted to the honor society I am part of, the National Society of Leadership and Success. I'm now a lifetime member of the Sigma Alpha Pi chapter, and it's such a relief to have completed all the steps to getting inducted!! I'm so glad I joined. If you've been invited to join and are considering it, I highly recommend it. There is a $90 entrance charge, but it's worth it because it's a one-time fee and the membership is for life. I've really benefitted from it, and it's a great piece to list on your resume.

The ceremony was really nice - it was held in one of the auditoriums we have at my university's student union. After each inductee went up and was recognized as a member, the Society gave everyone a gift that came with a NSLS ΣΑ𝚷 t-shirt, a lanyard, a pin, and a certificate of completion with our names on it. Then they served cupcakes that were soooo good :)

At lunch!

I celebrated afterwards with lunch at my favorite BBQ restaurant, Wood Ranch! Baby back ribs are my favorite food ever, and Wood Ranch has the best (I've tried a LOT of different places hehe)

On a different note, I wore this striped black and white off-the-shoulder dress and paired it with a blazer. The dress is really cute, but the fabric wrinkles really easily. Love the lightweight, flounce look of it, though. I picked my nude strap sandals to wear with this outfit - mine are dupes for a designer pair. I have been wearing them with all different outfits lately....they're not uncomfortable and they're really cute, too! My straw bag is new...I'm obsessed with straw bags this spring!!

PS - my outfit is linked at the bottom

Striped Mini Dress / Nude Heels / Straw Circle Bag / Similar Blazer (Mine is Last Year Banana Republic)

This week I'm in the final stretch of classes. After this, I just go to school next week for a class potluck and a bunch of different events. I can't believe my academic career is ending - it feels so weird but so good at the same time. I'm so nervous and excited for the end of the semester and graduation - it's all happening so fast. I have something big going on every week, if not every day, in May. Here's to the last day of April!

Happy Monday <3 <3 <3

Red Ruffle Top / Raw Hem Shorts / Round Straw Bag / Straw Hat

I only own two pieces of red clothing, and this top is one of em, haha! I typically don't wear super bright colors. With that said, when I saw this one I thought it was so....festive...I guess? It just made me feel really summery, which is a great feeling :) PS - it's 40% off right now! I picked up these shorts the other day at Brandy Melville in Santa Monica. I was a little iffy about them at first, but once I got home and tried them on again I LOVED them! They're such a good length - not too short, not too long. They don't stretch or get loose throughout the day, which is a big deal for me cause a lot of shorts wind up feeling too big after a day's wear. (I could only find them on the PacSun website, btw)

I'm trying to figure out what to wear for an event I have to go to on Saturday! I am part of the National Society of Leadership and Success, which is an honor society we have at my university (the Sigma Alpha Pi chapter). I'm super excited to finally be getting inducted. I'll try to do a post about the ceremony. It's a day early, but happy Friday, friends! <3 <3 <3

I've been on the hunt for a graduation dress for months! Yes - I am guilty of planning waaaay ahead when it comes to big events like this. I've already bought 2 that are options, but I'm not convinced they are formal enough for the big day. I put together this collage of some that I would like to wear. Even if you don't like these specific dresses, they're also great for getting ideas on what kind of dress you want. I found most of these from one specific brand on the Nordstrom Website. I looked everywhere from Anthropologie, A&F, JCPenney, even Forever 21, and it was surprisingly hard to find what I was picturing for my "graduation vision", if you will. Maybe it's cause I'm shopping about a month in advance :P

In order from left to right, top to bottom:

1. Gal Meets Glam Evelyn Dress

Are you familiar with Gal Meets Glam? It's one of my favorite blogs run by Julia Engel! She's a blogger who started out in San Francisco and now lives in Charleston. Anyway, she recently launched a line of dresses, and I want all of them!! They're so pretty, and the lengths give them such a classic, feminine look - a look I'm always drawn to. This Evelyn dress is one of my favorites from her collection and would be great for graduation.

2. Madewell Bow-Back Dress

THIS DRESS. First of all, it's my favorite color. Second, the bow in the back...third, the buttons down the front. This is one of the dresses I've already purchased. There's no doubt in my mind that I love it, but I'm not entirely sure if it's graduation worthy. What do you think??

3. Lace Off-the-Shoulder Midi Dress

I think yellow is such a stunning color for this time of year, and I feel like a lot of people don't wear bright colors like this at graduation. I see a lot of black and white each year - it's nice to look bright and colorful, I think. This dress in particular has a really nice length, and I love the little sleeves and lace detailing.

4. Mix Lace Dress

Such a sweet dress....love the flutter sleeves, the detailing down the front, the little cutouts, and the color! Really liking the length of this one. Not sure if I want to stick with a mini or a midi dress yet. I kind of envisioned a dress like this in my head. Definitely a contender.

5. Fit & Flare Halter Dress

As far as mini dresses go, this is my first pick. I showed this one to my classmates today, and they all said YES! LOVE THAT! Haha. I really really like the periwinkle color, too. I think the shape of this one is so flattering. Also love high-necks!

6. V-Neck Lace Dress

Last, but not least, is this BB Dakota dress. It has a V both in the front an back. It's simple, but the Vs give it something a little extra. I like that the front isn't too low, and the back is low enough to be fun yet still elegant. I think it would get this one in the "Navy" color rather than the "Glow" color, though.

I hope this has inspired you to get some ideas, or maybe even one of these dresses, if you're attending graduation either as a graduate or a guest. I'll keep you posted on what I decide when it gets closer. Friday is in two days!! <3 <3 <3

Gingham is one of my faaaavorites. I found this smocked top while at the mall the other day and just had to get it - it's only $14! I am not a Forever 21 regular, but they have had some really cute pieces the last couple of months that I just couldn't resist. I don't mind getting a thing or two from there, especially when they resemble clothing from more expensive stores that I like. I got some new shorts that will probably make an appearance on the blog this week :) the shorts in this photo are my favorite ones - I wear them half the week when it's hot!

These photos were taken at 2 different malls, lol! I went to The Oaks, but of course they don't have an Ulta so I had to stop by Simi Valley so I could use my 20% off coupon. Did you get anything from the sale? I got these makeup remover wipes - I wanted to try them because they come with 50, and they were I think $10 or $11 with the sale. I looked into getting these ones instead, but they only come with 30 for $15 ($12 with the sale), so I figured the Clinique ones were a better deal. Plus, the Clinique ones were totally wiped out while the Philosophy ones had plenty in stock - I wondered if that meant something!

Happy Monday everyone - here's to a productive week <3 <3 <3

Exaggerated Mini Cat Eye Sunglasses / Last Lolita Cat Eye Sunglasses / Tinted Cat Eye Sunglasses
Happy Saturday! :) I've been noticing cat eye sunglasses everywhere I go and decided to look around for a pair. These are three options I found....but here's the trick. One of these is $119, one is $14, and the other is $5. Can you guess which is which? I certainly can't! Don't mind me if I get the least expensive pair in that case ;)

Today I'm going into Ventura County for some shopping and lunch! Can't wait to wear (and share) some of the pieces I've gotten recently for the warm weather we're having the next few days. I'm also gonna be avoiding the many assignments I have due this coming week...yikes! Lol have a fab weekend! <3 <3 <3

This is a super late edition of my latest series on here called Wishlist Wednesday! It's been another busy busy week. Tomorrow is Friday, hurray! Making it to Friday has been feeling like a huge accomplishment each week this past month haha. I've been taking things week-by-week so I don't get completely stressed out. What better way to relieve stress than to online shop?? I don't know about you, but when I get home, I like to sit back and check all my favorite websites for what's new/what sales are happening. Here are some of the items I've got my eye on:

1. Cozy Rib Button-through Tee (A&F)

Ugh - I just love a good cozy shirt. This one is great in particular because it's comfy but also makes for a really nice, put-together outfit. And the lavender color of this one? Love! This one is very similar from Nordstrom and is actually about the same price ($38 vs. 39).

2.  Linen-Blend Boyfriend Tee (A&F)

I'm really into linen clothing - you'll see further down about my obsession. This one is currently on sale for only $10! Typically with Abercrombie, I've learned that almost everything ends up getting marked down to a great price if you wait long enough. Can't say the same for my other favorite stores like Madewell...usually my size sells out before it goes to clearance. This shirt could even end up being cheaper down the road, but I think $10 is a good enough deal to grab it now.

3. Knot Front Dress (A&F)

I saw this in person the other day and loved everything about it - it's my favorite color, the cute knot in the front, the buttons down the middle....I could go on! It's so adorable, I can't wait to buy it when it's on sale. It's currently full price for $58 and also comes in the prettiest light blue color, too.

5. Stripe Paperbag Shorts (Topshop)

I'm really into the high-waisted linen shorts trend that's going on. These ones from are my #1 choice. I've browsed a lot of this style from Nordstrom (here), to A&F (here) and (here), to Forever 21 (here) and (here), and I want these the most.

6. Caracas Cover-Up Pants (Madewell)

Really cute, lightweight pants that could look great in a casual or more formal outfit, I'm thinking with this white tie-front button down and a really cute pair of sandals, wedges, or slides like these or these. Pair it with a bag like this, this, or this and a straw hat and you've got my favorite spring outfit!

7. Short Overalls (Madewell)

I think short overalls are one of the pieces you can never go wrong with. They make for the cutest summer outfit - I like to pair them with a cute t-shirt, maybe like the linen A&F one from earlier, or a long sleeve henley. They're really cute with a baseball cap and my favorite Adidas Gazelles also here for half off.

8. Silk Bow-Back Dress (Madewell)
This is probably my #1 pick for spring/summer dresses. The back has the sweetest bow, I love the hello color and the flower print, and the buttons down the front are so cute. It's $158 so I will definitely be watching for when it goes on sale, haha!

9. Flounce Mini-Dress (Forever 21)

I can just picture this dress with a pair of wedges like these (also here), these, or a cheaper pair here. Add a cute straw tote (less expensive one) and a necklace set and you're good to go!

10. Destroyed Denim Shorts (Articles of Society)
I'm always on the hunt for a good pair of denim shorts. I wear them SO much on hot days, I could always use another pair. I talk about my Madewell denim boy shorts a lot because I wear them all the time....this AOS is another pair I would really like to own. Love the wash, love the rips. I've heard really good things about them, too. They're $49.

That wraps it up for today! Hope your week has been going well <3 <3 <3

Love, K

I'm so glad to be posting after an entire week of no posts! Last week was busy, stressful, and overwhelming. I had a million things due at school and a couple of doctor's appointments...it was a lot to handle. It's that point in the semester where we've only got just shy of 3 weeks left, which means all the big assignments are coming due. My mom & I relieved some anxiety by taking a short trip down to my favorite beach, Point Dume in Malibu. In my opinion, it's the best beach in southern California. There is something so calming about it. Afterwards, we stopped at my favorite place, SunLife, to get a smoothie bowl at the shopping plaza just down the road from Point Dume. I always get the Hawaiian Bowl with no coconut! :)

My romper is from A&F last year, but I linked a few similar ones at different price points. The sandals, bag, and bandana are the exact items. Hope you're having a great week so far <3

I feel "meh" at most about most of the jeans in my closet. With the exception of my nicer pair of Madewell ones, my other jeans tend to stretch too much, slide down, and feel uncomfortable after walking around in them all day. I've seen so many people wear these Levi's 721 jeans and thought they looked so cute. I'm a big fan of ripped jeans! Almost all of the pairs I have are destroyed to some extent. I considered saving up towards a good pair of Levi's, until one random day I just happened to go on the Nordstrom website and found them for 40% off. They came to around $50 instead of their usual $88! Keep in mind I am a broke college student, so I consider these to be an investment pair even at the discounted price. They're really good quality denim, which is hard to find for under $100. While they are not stretchy at all, that's what I like about them! Most jeans have a lot of spandex, and I really don't like how they feel or fit. I will say, though, that because they don't stretch it's really important to get the right size. If they're too tight when you first get them, they will stay too tight. I'm hoping to get the darker wash at some point, too! They're 25% off right now, which puts them just under $75. IMG_4575 IMG_4577 IMG_4578 fullsizeoutput_20c Levi's 721 Jeans / Embroidered Penny Peasant Top also here / Adalyne Perfed Espadrille Wedge, same shoe different color here, similar  here and here,  / Straw Hat / Kate Spade NY bag For sizing reference, I am 5"4.5 and have to cuff these jeans slightly. If you're shorter than I am, they may be super long on you. Also, I totally love this hat! It's super lightweight and is a really nice addition to any shorts, jeans, or dress ensemble. PS - If you're wondering how a "broke college student" is wearing a pair of $170 shoes, read how I got them here! Love, K <3 <3 <3

Disneyland in the spring is one of the best times of the year to be there. Christmastime is great, but sometimes it's hard to be outdoors all day when it's cold! In the spring, they plant the most beautiful flowers, the cherry blossom trees near the castle are blooming, and it's usually warm enough to go on the water rides! I went yesterday for the first time since March 4th (when you're a passholder, that's a loooong time! Lol) and it was so great.

One of the best things to drink while you're there in the spring (or summer) is this new apple juice slushee they sell in Fantasyland. It's over by the Red Rose Tavern cafe, and it's so good I think about it when I'm not there, haha! It's really refreshing and I highly recommend trying one, especially on a warmer day.

I was also SO excited yesterday because I got a new outfit! Well, I got a new Disneyland shirt and Minnie ears. I used to have these sequined ones that are so cute - they were the first pair I bought when I initially got my annual pass 3 years ago. Someone stole them out of the car, and I finally replaced them with a rose gold pair you can only find in the park! They just came out with a new pink color too, which I would also love. My Disneyland Spirit Jersey is definitely a favorite of mine. I thought I wanted the purple color that's linked here, but when I saw the peachy pink one I picked that instead. This Minnie Mouse one is so cute too! I ended up looking ultra pink that day between the ears, the shirt, and my Pink Adidas Gazelles.

I'm hoping to do a post soon more in depth about what I do in a day at Disneyland and also about my experience with the Maxpass! I've tried it several times and highly suggest getting it. Have a fantastic weekend <3 <3 <3
